What Sets This Program Apart?
Personalized Solutions-focused Movement & Mindfulness Practices Taught with Precision & Teacher-Student Relatability.
Meet Weekly with Joy on Zoom for Personalized Yoga Therapeutics
Go beyond a typical studio private lesson. Over 8 weeks, you’ll meet with Joy virtually for a weekly 75-minute 1:1 therapeutic session on Zoom, designed around your unique movement patterns, limitations, and goals. Each session ends with a grounding, practice-integrating body-awareness meditation—and every lesson is recorded and stored in your personal video library so you can revisit and deepen your learning anytime.
Your first session includes a thorough therapeutic intake covering your history with movement, injuries, chronic pain and current treatments you're trying, to understand what you’re feeling in your body and how you hope it will change.
Your weekly program includes:
• One, 75-minute personalized lesson,
• Three days of 20–30 minute guided home practice follow-along videos,
• Three rest days of your choice
A clear, expert-guided structure to help you move better, feel better, and create lasting change.
Experience Relief & Routine with Short
Video Exercises 3x/Week
Between sessions, you’ll receive 3–4 short, targeted follow-along videos (delivered 3 days per week) to reinforce your progress. You’ll practice them as homework, share feedback, and help shape the direction of your ongoing lessons.
These videos feature beginner-accessible therapeutically-informed language, pacing, movements and meditation.
Skip the guesswork and endless time searching the internet - know exactly what to do outside of your lessons, learn why it matters, and leave and receive feedback with Joy regarding your experience with the exercises and customized program.
Set a positive trajectory to your progress in the program as you begin to develop a confident movement routine — practicing a little bit of customized yoga therapeutics and mediation more often — and feel stronger and more mobile in your everyday movements.
Expertly Designed, Curated, Guided & Monitored
The homework videos are designed and taught by Yoga Medicine top instructor - Jenni Tarma - with teaching nearly identical to mine. Jenni operates Kaari Prehab — a brand that specializes in Strength Training & Yoga for Osteoporosis — and is my personal teacher and colleague. While I'm not the teacher in your homework videos, I'm curating your homework program's complementary exercises, monitoring your progress & homework feedback, offering support and holding space for your therapeutic understanding, and felt experiences with the at-home exercises.
During your 75-min weekly lesson with me, expect a mix of my demonstration of the practices and movements and teaching you though verbal cues while I observe and help you to adjust your movements.
I spend lots of time with you initially to help you figure out how to access Zoom & the videos, and how to set up your space and camera on you laptop or tablet, so I can see you super well on my computer screen. These online lessons are absolutely just as effective as lessons in-person — which are not offered at this time.

Client Testimonial: Patsy, Age 65
"After six weeks of your at-home yoga program, it’s clear that practicing a little, and often, has made a meaningful difference in my physical and mental health, including motivation to take care of things around the house that once felt overwhelming. I’m less stiff now and have started to notice a new, first layer of flexibility, which is very encouraging. My shoulder and low back pain from years of overuse won’t vanish overnight, but I understand that regular, gently targeted practice and slow progress are the way forward. Staying in touch with you about my experiences makes me feel more involved in the process and helps shape my future sessions.
Reflecting on each exercise helps me see how my body responds, showing me which movements are working and which ones might need more time. When I didn’t have your support, it was difficult to keep going on my own, and I lost strength and mobility. Now, alongside the yoga, I’ve been motivated to use weights and resistance machines in small, manageable steps—which I wasn’t able to do before. I’m grateful for your practices and guidance and I am grateful for you! I’m looking forward to continuing our work together to keep building my mobility and strength."

Taught by a Teacher Who Can Relate to Having Movement and Nervous System Limitations
I'm known for my "why before how" philosophy — guiding students to understand the science and purpose behind each movement and breath. My students often say my teaching feels like a "conversation with their body" because learning why a movement matters makes it easier to connect to the feeling of it and make it your own. But what qualifies me most to be your teacher isn't just my professional science-informed expertise — it's that I'm living your experience too.
By 41, I had my second total knee replacement after years of progressive arthritic pain. At 46, I began navigating chronic stress, shaped by long-COVID, complex trauma, and a high output career. By 48, I was in full burnout. After a decade of pushing through, exhaustion had taken a toll on my nervous system, even affecting the mobility of my newly replaced knees.
Movement and nervous system limitations are a real part of my everyday experience. This lived wisdom is what shapes how I teach: with compassion, practicality, relatability, and tools that respect your limits and nurture your potential. So when I ask, “What if you had a teacher and coach who knows exactly how you feel?”—I mean it. I understand the challenges you face because I live them myself.
Are you thinking: "I'm too tight, weak, injured, or
undisciplined to practice yoga"?
I get it. But nothing could be further from the truth.
I believe that your yoga, movement, relaxation and body care practices should support you, no matter what is going on in your life — including physical limitations or pain. You don't have to show up in any particular way. You don't have to look or move in any particular way. Your body doesn't need to be anything other than what it is right now. And you'll be reassured when you see me demonstrating yoga movements with my own physical limitations — including two knee replacements embedded in scar tissue.
This program includes fundamental therapeutic practices that will skillfully address your areas of concern and, also, will familiarize and train you with the building blocks of good function around the hips and legs, neck and shoulders, and middle and low back including: awareness, range of motion, mobility, balance, stability, strength, ease and nervous system regulation.
I've worked with private yoga clients for over 8 years, and, as a Yoga Medicine Therapeutic Specialist — with further specialized training in human cadaver study — I have extensive knowledge of the body and how it moves, as well as a variety of healing movement modalities as a master meditation teacher and licensed massage therapist. So even if you show up with an injury, exhaustive stress, or what seems like a limitation, I know how to address it AND create a practice just for you and where you are right now. If discovery is beyond my professional Scope of Practice, I will refer you toward it's appropriate medical pathway.
Experience expert-led and licensed therapeutic instruction all from the place you feel most at ease—home—where each practice becomes a quiet ritual of care that fits naturally into the rhythm of your life.
Use the form below to introduce yourself and your interest in this 8-week home program and I’ll share a few sample homework videos—and the trusted expert teaching style that matches my own.

"Working with Joy stretches beyond completing exercises for pain, mobility, and steadiness — you're also becoming educated. She takes time to explain purpose, and helps you truly notice your body's response. Her vast knowledge and willingness to share her own experiences with movement limitations helps me feel understood and at ease with my own challenges.
The exercises may seem simple, but the amount of feedback they provide is powerful. They highlight patterns I wasn’t aware of, and turn seemingly ordinary muscle actions or yoga shapes into a clearer story about my movement history. Joy offers solutions that gently and gradually improve that story. She guides you through the program with patience, teaches you where to look for small wins, and keeps you motivated. The scheduled homework videos she sends to my email help me stay consistent between sessions and keep the program present in my daily life.
Since I began working with her, my low back and hip pain have eased, and I’m sleeping better, feeling brighter, and managing stress more confidently. On stiffer days, I now know exactly which practices help me return to comfort. With active grandkids and caregiving responsibilities for a parent, building physical and mental resilience has been a priority. This program fits easily into my life and supports far more than just my problem areas.
I feel more confident moving and lifting than I have in years, and I’ve even developed a simple meditation practice that has made me kinder and more patient with myself. I’ve learned yoga in a very meaningful and practical way. I wholeheartedly recommend Joy and her personalized private programs to any woman looking for simple, effective solutions after everything else has fallen short.”
